Black Ops Server Name

Any suggestions for names? Do we want to stick with the original name with a variation of FragShack Or go with something else?

We can include our clan tag, however in my opinion sometimes players migrate to Public servers when they feel that its not associated with a clan. Should we should leave WestCoast out of it because it seems that a lot of servers have come on line now with various games that include WestCoast in the name. As I mentioned in the other thread on Admining, I think there isn't a standard FFA mode currently being offered, other than in Wager Matches. Which explains possibly putting TDM into the name.

We can also go with something entirely different if we want. Something out of the ordinary? Any suggestions? Or stick with what we know.

Looks good to me. What is the release date? Im hoping (as is everyone) that this game is going to be great. We sure need a good release as its been more than a year since something really good has come along. MW2 had potential but we know what happened there. Perhaps this will right the great wrong. Looking forward to some good gaming with friends!

Is the server up and running? you guys been playing it?

The server name really doesn't matter to me, as long as we have one setup.

I think we need to still decide on if we're going to start one. There are a lot of people complaining that they can't find their servers on line because the server browser issues. There are over 11,000 servers and I only show about 3000-4000. There could be a problem with starting a server and then we can't find it to get on, because you can't add a server to Favorites by IP, not at least yet. I think right now the Favorites is also broken, it was working before, but none of the servers I've added will now show up on Favorites.

Also, would we want the server HC or normal? In all honesty normal doesn't bother me, I've played both types. I wonder what would do better in terms of attracting traffic.

So lets take a vote. Who wants to start a server?? I'll set it up if we do. Also state if you want HC or normal. San Jose servers are now available.

I'd like to give it a try for a month. I think the game will hold our interest for a while. Im free in the early eveng now for at least 4 months so I have time to play. I much prefer hardcore in this game.

I'm available in the early evenings as well. Our best hope is that putting up a HC FFA server in San Jose will be attractive, as most west coast servers are based in Los Angeles and Seattle. San Jose is a Tier 2 hub and falls right in the middle.

Question - I feel that some of the map times are really short. I think the game defaults to 30 kills to win the map. I think about 12-15 minutes can be ideal for a map time. Maybe a bit shorter. 50 kills is what we use to run on the World at War servers. Any thoughts/preferences on this? I'm open.

We can give it a run for a month, however I'm sure you agree that if we can't get some traffic going on it, our play time is probably best spent actually playing on a server with targets. My biggest concern is not being able to find the server in the browser.

Yeah i say we get a server going. I will see about getting the game tomorrow or Wednesday (Pay day is on Wednesday)

I have heard a few things about it. I hate that its a Steam game though (Steam being so 90s right now) and Decided I might as well give it a try.

I figured I would think like Slapper. If I play it for 50hrs thats $2 an hour of entertainment. Not too bad considering for a 2hr movie ticket its what $14? $7 an hour... Ridiculous.

Question on the name. It turns out that there is more than 22 character spaces. Quite a bit more. We could go back to using Westcoast in the name if we wanted to.

Also I didn't think you could run a FFA? I thought the closest we could get is TDM

I was surprised about the FFA mode too. I think that came out of nowhere. It wasn't advertized (pre release) with the game specs. Perhaps they realized unlike other companies that if you're going to provide a TDM mode, you might as well provide a FFA mode too. In terms of development, FFA is basically TDM, minus the the second team and just changing a few spawn spots. Thats about it. Hopefully MOH will soon have one.

The name works for me. When might we see it up and running?
