Call of Duty 7 to be the last FPS CoD? Act says Fuck yes.

Pretty much, yesterday 2 of the top dogs at IW were sat down with Activision and were let go, reasons people are saying insubordination or breach of contract, Activision has said no word on why so far.

Some points from the article....

"According to the release, Infinity Ward will move forward on developing two downloadable map packs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, both due for release sometime in 2010."

"Confirming what we already suspected, a new Call of Duty is
coming from Treyarch Games later this year. What we didn't already
know, however, was Activision's intentions for Sledgehammer Games
(headed by former Visceral Games developers Glen A. Schofield and
Michael Condrey) to release a brand-new Call of Duty game "in the action-adventure genre" sometime in 2011."

And even then CoD7 might not be a FPS...

"No setting or gameplay details were revealed for either upcoming Call of Duty product, but the "action-adventure" description suggests it won't be a first-person-shooter."

"Activision also vaguely discussed intentions for the future of the series, which include pulling the Call of Duty franchise under a singular business unit. Activision also intends to "expand" the Call of Duty brand similar to what Blizzard Entertainment has done with its franchises."

^ Made me laugh so far, they seriously want to enter the MMO arena, they need to understand.....YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY FUCKING MAKE A SOMEWHAT BALANCE GAME, AND COME UP WITH UPDATES THAT WILL ACTUALLY WORK, NOT HALFASSING SHIT.

Its all up to trey right now, but IW's work in CoD is finish.

Isn't Treyarch tasked with the next installement of COD? Or is that considered COD6? I know its based on Vietnam.

Its all about money! The gaming world and FPS's will continue to evolve, regardless of COD. There is definitely a good market if someone can produce a good game.

Yeah, and sadly, Act will ruin the CoD name that IW worked to make (CoD1, CoD2, CoD4, and MW2), it will end up like guitar hero, we'll see about 5-10 CoD games each year now, Act likes to ruin things.

We will see Call of Duty: Metallica, Call of Duty: World Tour, Call of Duty: Aurosmith, Call of Duty: Van Halen and Call of Duty: Legends of Rock. lol

Pretty much, they saw how much MW2 brought in, they want to milk that cow for all its worth, like Guitar Hero, the 2nd game was fun, 3rd was meh, after that its just BS, like how they are coming out with a Green Day and a Jimi Hendrix (the man would destroy them if he knew they were making a game like this).

People are saying Act never paid royalties for MW2 to IW.

Does anyone know what the general perception of the console players is regarding multiplayer? Because if overall console players enjoy the multiplayer, than MW3 will be nearly as successful, if not more.

I suspect that Activision feels that the COD series may be ending its product life. They'll probably squeeze one more payday out of it, and then the game will follow along a path like Guitar Hero or Medal of Honor. What killed Medal of Honor? Continuing to release a game that basically followed along its original path. The same will happen to COD MW2 as long as they stick with the original theme, which is Modern Warfare. Pretty soon peeps will be saying - ehhhhh, been there done that. Think I'll spend my $60 on something else.

Speaking of Medal of Honor, that should be an interesting release this Fall.
