Server

About the Squad DM server, I want to try it another month. I think we can get the traffic back. I jumped on tonight and people turned up pretty quickly. Archiebunker showed up and I got into Ventrlo with him (Their clan Ventrilo) Met two of his mates and we played the server for a while. Was really quite fun.

From what it sounds like they play fairly often together.

It appears that when peeps have been getting on the server late at night, traffic quickly follows. However for some reason it doesn't seem to stick around long. I know that the server (actually the plasma backend) crashed the other night.

One problem here for me is that most of our clanmates don't start playing till late at night. I know the time difference, however we have virtually no U.S. based clanmates who play now aside from Scuba and Moon. My work schedule isn't reall condusive of staying up till midnight, 1:00am during the week.

Lets let it run another month. I imagine more maps will become available for SQ DM and will add a bit more spice into game. Four maps just isn't enough to keep me interested for very long.

I'm a objective man for game modes so that statement gets thrown out the window .

Besides, running in as a Assault with C4+Explosive Power thing w/e+able to carry more explosive+a C4 on each wall of a house that a bomb is in = house down and objective blown up.

And when I do play Sniper, I run and gun with the Magnum sniper (forgot name).

The server has climbed to 77th percentile. It seems to get traffic. and it held its traffic well tonight.

Finally got the server to run only one round per map. This should help keep peeps around.

The server was full this morning when I woke up, but then died really quick, which was weird. Not sure if some technical glitch happened or what.

Sure seems to be a hit and miss recently.

Yeah. I think its just getting the regular players back. Then it should keep going.

I keep noticing that the server tends to get going arouind 11:00pm California will and will run into the middle of the night, where as all of a sudden the traffic drops to nothing almost immediately, such as last night and the night before. Is anyone on of you guys on the server when this happens? Is the server crashing or are a lot of people dropping off within a few minutes of each other?

A lot of people are dropping off. Tends to happen after finishing off the map though.

Is anyone still playing this game? The server has been completely dead for two days now, not ONE player has joined. I myself am pretty bored with the game. Once the next patch comes out (looking more like next week now) and some new maps become available, perhaps that will inject some enthusiasm in me. Sick and tired of those four maps.

its getting hard to find servers with decent traffic. I'm not prepared to run around for half an hour waiting for more players.. i do get to blow up a lot of stuff though, even got some air with the tank the other day

Are you saying its hard finding other servers (SQ DM) servers with decent traffic? Or you're tired of running around our empty server waiting for traffic. Or maybe both of the above? :-)

I checked Gametracker last night around 9:00pm and there were 8800 people playing BC2, which is definitely a sign that players are getting bored with the game. Its a shame when large companies like Dice fail so miserably in being in touch with what their customers need in order to continue to maintain an interest in the game. Do they really think that 4-6 maps is going to keep people interested? In particular when you take all of the crashing/bugs into consideration as well? Its wonderful that this next patch will fix so many problems and will provide more control over the server. However who really gives a shit when players have become totally bored with the game itself because Dice's lame ass DLC plan calls for unlocking a recycled map once a month? Other than those two maps they unlocked about a month ago, nothing else has come out. I mean WHAT THE FUCK! JUST UNLOCK THE REST OF THE GODDAMN MAPS THAT ALREADY EXIST ON OUR HARD DRIVES!

Is that asking too much?? Personally I'm ready to abandon the game for a month or so until they unlock the rest of the maps. Once thats happens and they've ironed out the rest of the issues, maybe I'll revist the game. But for now, I'm bored and would rather stare at the boob tube than sit and play the same four maps over and over and over and over.........

I can find aussie servers that are nearly full fairly easily and yes just playing squad dm is boring so i jump on a rush or conquest just for variety. troopy, moon and myself played yesterday for half an hour before we got 1 peep to join but by that time i was over it. (although we did get a laugh killing each other with the repair tool) We tried mw2 b4 that but got sick of it too. i think im just over the all the crap, campers, tubers and most of all whingers on every server, (ooww you killed me, your a hax) might try left4dead, or SHOCK, HORROR spend some time with the missus.

Left for Dead 2 is really fun when you play with 3 other people (Remember its a 4 player co-op, but you can play against 4 other players, though with the recent dlc that came out, I think you can have up to 5-6 on each team, not 100% sure).

Wish my PC could run L4D2, or the first one, with PC you guys can have all the modded maps you want, saw some of people who ported some Team Fortress 2 over and it looked nice.

Thats another thing, you guys ever tried Team Fortress 2? Its a amazing game, really really fun, game is almost 3 years old I believe and people still play it on PC (last time I played anyway or tried to, which was 2-3 months ago), sucks as the the console versions are about 1-2 years behind updates on TF2.

Also heard Counterstrike Source got a huge update or is getting one soon that'll make people really happy.

I have left for dead 2 pc. I think they came up with a dedicated server mod for it. I never play it because no one elce has it. Its a real bloodfest!

Now the anticipated release date for the new patch is this Wednesday. Hopefully they'll include a bonus and unlock some more maps for SQ DM. Sad to think that I haven't turned my new gaming rig on in over a week.

Yeah sorry I haven't been around much guys. Been a busy time for me... Do't know how long I will have a job at work, the area manager has been bullying me and is just looking for a reason to fire me. I am getting 2 written warnings in one day in 2 days time. So I have been trying to put the effort into work a bit more and the Girlfriend has screwed her ankle up so been trying to help her out as much as I can. Might be on tomorrow for a bit though.

I haven't been around really either, mainly because I think others like me have mostly given up on BC2 until they put the next patch out and release some maps. I don't have MW2 which is what I think some peeps are playing right now. Bottom line for me is I'm just plain bored with BC2. I'd play COD5 but I think most of you have moved on from that game or don't have the game anymore? Thats my understanding. So basically I've just been doing other stuff in the evenings. As I said above, hopefully this next patch will include some more unlocked maps. Thats really all I need to inject a bit of excitement back into the game. It will also be nice to be able to camp the server and get traffic going on it again.

Unless you find MW2 for 5 dollars (even then, that might be too much) don't buy it.

I believe CoD4 on PC is still popular, as well as CoD2.

Its hard to go back to COD4 because the graphics are substandard compared to whats out there today. Also, I've also had browser issues with not all the servers showing up. I decided not to install it on my new rig because I could never find a good server to play on. If they don't improve BC2, perhaps I'll give it another shot. I think I saved my rank.
